ROBERT MARTIN

Robert Martin signed the Register at Tucson Friday, March 2, 1928. He carried Roy L. Fisher as his sole passenger.

Fresno Bee, April 5, 1928

They were flying in NC4029, a Swallow Commercial, S/N 900. Based at Bakersfield, CA, they were westbound from El Paso, TX. They did not cite a destination, but it was probably back to Bakersfield.

The only information I have about pilot Martin and his passenger is this brief article, left, from the Fresno Bee, April 5, 1928. Martin and Fisher are among the list of members in the newly-formed Kern County Aviators' Club.

We can conjecture, from the date of manufacture of their Swallow, and the date of their arrival at Tucson, they were ferrying this two-month old airplane from the factory in Wichita, KS back to their club headquarters. None of the other names listed in the article are signers of the Davis-Monthan Airfield Register.
