DOUGLAS O-2H 29-164
|
Douglas O-2H 29-164 landed once at Tucson, Thursday, August 14, 1930 at 9:10AM. It was flown by Lt. Lake Moore. He carried as passenger one Pvt. Marquardt. Based at San Diego, CA Rockwell Field, they were eastbound to Muskogee, OK. They remained overnight at Tucson, departing the next morning at 9:30AM.
This airplane was S/N 550 and identified in the Register by Lt. Moore as an O-2H. Although it was a standard O-2H airframe, at some point it had a 600 HP Curtiss Conqueror V-1570-5 engine installed, which made it into a model designated O-25. It eventually was transferred to Wright Field and assigned number P-538.
Below, courtesy of the San Diego Aerospace Museum (SDAM), we see the airplane with the Curtiss engine installed, making it the model O-25, which appears stenciled on the fuselage.
