| Registration Number NC8217 Plane Vanilla This aircraft is an Alexander Eaglerock A-12, S/N 785 (ATC#
139). It was manufactured (date not specified, but probably
March 1929) by the Alexander Aircraft Company, Colorado Springs,
CO. It came from the factory with a 130 HP Comet 7-D engine
S/N 534. It weighed 2,580 pounds as a three-place airplane. It must have been flown by the company for a while, because,
on 4/27/29 it suffered an accident with no previous record
of sale. Engine failure at Stafford, TX resulted in the airplane
nosing over on landing after striking a ditch. Pilot and passenger
were uninjured. It was rebuilt at the factory, inspected and
approved as of 10/14/29. We welcome this plane to Tucson, freshly rebuilt, on 10/16/1929
piloted by Jim Grier carrying one unidentified passenger.
Based in Colorado Springs, CO, they were headed from El Paso,
TX to Phoenix, AZ. The airplane then moved to California on 3/10/30 under the
ownership of Claude R. Wilson, Salinas, CA. It sold four more
times, coming to Howard LaMarr of San Jose, CA on 9/15/33
with 572:45 total flight hours. It suffered an accident at
Strathmore, CA on 6/3/34 for which there are no details in
the record. The registration was cancelled 6/21/34. UPLOADED: 07/28/05 REVISED: |
