BUHL CA-6 AIR SEDAN NC8452

Registration Number NC8452

Sold Into Mexico

This aircraft is a Buhl CA-6 Air Sedan S/N 58 (ATC #128) built in February 1930 by Buhl Aircraft Company, Marysville, MI. It had a 300 HP Wright J-6 R-975A engine, S/N 10283. It weighed 4,356 pounds and left the factory as a six-place airplane. It landed twice at Tucson.

On 2/2/30 it sold to James Brazell of Oklahoma City, OK. It transferred on 3/7/30 to Western Airways, Inc. of Oklahoma City (J.A. Brazell, President, L.E. Gray, Secretary).

NC8452 first landed at Tucson on 4/11/1930 piloted by Luther E. Gray, the Secretary of Western Airways. He carried three unidentified passengers westbound from El Paso, TX to Los Angeles, CA. On 4/18/30 Mr. Gray landed again with three passengers, this time eastbound from Los Angeles to Oklahoma City.

The airplane suffered an accident at Muskogee, OK on 5/26/30. New right wings from the factory were installed and the airplane was inspected and approved for flight again as of 6/20/30. NOTE: after the accident it was discovered that the airplane had been sold in error by Buhl as S/N 57 and bore registration number 8451. The error was corrected.

The airplane changed hands twice more in the Oklahoma area. On 12/8/36, with about 445:45 total flight hours, it was sold to Carlos Panini of Mexico. It was registered on 2/10/37 as XA-BHX in Mexico. The U.S. registration was cancelled 2/8/37.
