BUHL CA-6B AIR SEDAN NC8455

Registration Number NC8455

High-Time, Faithful Transport

This aircraft is a Buhl CA-6B Air Sedan S/N 61 (ATC #2-25) built in May 1930 by Buhl Aircraft Company, Marysville, MI. It had a 450 HP Pratt & Whitney Wasp C engine, S/N 2885. It weighed 4,665 pounds and left the factory as a six-place airplane, with battery, pistol and pistol flares, landing lights and hat shelf installed.

On 5/13/30 it sold to International Air Transport of Spokane, WA. The airplane was used for survey and experimental work, returned to the factory for a “few engineering changes” and returned to Spokane with a bill of sale as a new airplane. It was also used by Mamer Air Transport of Spokane for transport operations. It was sold to Mamer on 6/2/31.

During its tenure with Mamer Flying Service, the airplane landed at Tucson on 9/15/1933 flown by a pilot whose name is illegible in the Register. Whoever the pilot (and passengers?), he was headed west from Manhattan, KS to Spokane, WA. The record says the airplane had accumulated about 1532 flight hours at this time. As of 8/15/34 it had logged 1808:15 flight hours, so it was well-used.

It suffered an accident at Spokane on 10/4/34. No record of fates of pilot, passengers or airframe. Registration cancelled 10/4/34.
