Clements McMullen was born February 5, 1892 and died January 9, 1959. He was a founding member of The Order of Daedalians. He landed at Tucson once on Friday, February 20, 1931. As a lieutenant, he was solo in the Douglas BT-2B, 31-107 (later damaged in landing accident at Martinez, TX, January 25, 1935). Based at Dayton, OH, Wright Field, he was eastbound from San Diego, CA, Rockwell, FIeld to El Paso, TX. Below, from site contributor Andy Heins, is a photograph of McMullen (L) in civilian clothes. At right is Will White. The aircraft behind them is the Lockheed Vega NC106N (not a Register airplane). Lt. Mc Mullen and Lt. White flew the Lockheed from New York to Buenos Aires in March, 1930, setting an international record over the route.

A lengthy and highly detailed biography, with many additional photographs, is available at the USAF Flag Ranks Web site. The photographic history on that page, below the biography, shows this same image, and others, related to their record flight to Argentina. McMullen has a good Web presence, with the link cited above probably being the most extensive, broad view biography. Below, two additional photographs of McMullen and White.
