GREAT LAKES 2-T-1A NC11337

This airplane visited Tucson once on Monday, January 18, 1932. Based at Oakland, CA, it arrived piloted by West Moreau carrying as his passenger Kenneth Steward. They were westbound from El Paso, TX to Oakland. They cited no reason in the Register for their flight through Tucson.

The airplane is S/N 250. Below, courtesy of site visitor Marcus Moreau, whose grandfather flew this airplane through Tucson, is a sharp profile of the airplane.

The reason there is no information about this airplane at the Smithsonian is that it is still registered with the FAA and, according to the public record, is owned by a gentleman in Michigan. It's airworthiness and registration are listed as valid, so I assume the airplane is flying.

Below are two additional photos from Mr. Moreau. In both you can see parts of "C113" on the bottom wing. But note the differences in paint schemes and engine exhaust ports vs. the photo above. If these photographs show NC11337, it underwent at least two repaintings and three different engine engine installations.Moreau was known to operate more than one Great Lakes (it's estimated by his family that he had upwards of 15 planes in his fleet at one time or another). These photos could well show one or more of the other Great Lakes with differences in the last couple of digits in their registration numbers.
