This airplane is a Travel Air E-4000, S/N 1233. It landed once at Tucson, Sunday August 11, 1929 at 11:30 AM. Pilot Leon.G. Larson was solo. Based in San Francisco, CA he was westbound from El Paso, TX to San Francisco. He remained overnight in Tucson, departing the next day. I was unable to find information at the National Air & Space Museum Archives for this airplane so I do not have the chain of custody through the years.
The images below are shared with us courtesy of long-time friend of dmairfield.org Tim Kalina. These, and many other images, have contributed greatly to our understanding of the people and airplanes of the Register.

The image above is as it was shared by Tim. He guesses it is fitted with a R-540, 5-cylinder J-6 Whirlwind. Below, I have enhanced the contrast to bring out details of the wings. It was a sunny day, near noon, location unknown.

Below is the inscription on the back of this image. I have enhanced the contrast of this image for easier reading. You can even see a fingerprint in the upper left-hand corner. Henery (sic) Cranston may have been the owner. Does anyone KNOW? Bear Photo Service, no longer in business, operated in California. There are a couple of hundred Google hits for the company.
